Glazed Berry Sugar Cookie Bars
Ingredients:
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup mixed berries strawberries, blueberries, raspberries
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar for glaze
- 1 tablespoon milk for glaze
Instructions:
Warm the oven up to 350F 175C and grease a 9x13-inch baking pan
Melt the butter and mix it with the sugar in a large bowl until the mixture is light and fluffy
Add the egg and vanilla extract and mix them in well
Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt together in a different bowl
Mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients one at a time until a dough forms
Spread out about two-thirds of the dough evenly in the baking pan that has been prepared
This will be the base
Cover the dough base with the mixed berries
Make a streusel-like topping by crumbling the rest of the dough over the berry layer
Put it in an oven that is already hot and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the top is just barely golden
Let the cookie bars cool all the way down on a wire rack in the pan
To make a glaze, mix the powdered sugar and milk in a small bowl
Pour the glaze over the cookie bars that have already cooled
Cut the bars into squares and serve after the glaze has set
